Compost bins, chickens and garden

Just some pics I snapped this evening to better show and explain some our homestead:

Here is the new compost set-up, it is working well. The two bins are a little too full but we just got the last bins added today so I may eventually pitchfork some of it in the new ones or I may just leave it and fill up the two new ones. Around here it doesn't take long to collect enough for the compost bins.

Here is one of the new side of the compost bin (right now it is just one big bin but we may evenutally divide it later)

Here is the other side, two bins and they are full

Here is the garden area, I am so hoping for a beautiful garden this year. We rotor tilled the beds today and will do it again before we plant anything but is is a great start

These are the fence posts that made my arms sore and they map out the area where the new duck pen will be, the garden is on the one side, then I will plant rows of corn on the other end and then will put up another pen for either the other ducks or the turkeys I am still trying to convince Dale of

Here is the famous un-interested in ladies Roo - Mr. Blue! Actually he is interested in ladies just not the ones I want him to be interested in

His beautiful ladies

If he ever decides they are worthy of his attention, then their babies will be either blue, black or splash Orpingtons. The stats are 50% blue, 25% black or 25% splash. Here is a picture of what a splash Orp looks like, he is our other rooster, Marmaduke.

Hope you enjoy the pics!!!

Looks wonderful!

Is Mr. Blue a blue andalusian? We had one once, we named him Romeo. We still have one of his daughters in our laying flock.

Tabitha, no he is a blue Orpington. That is one of the reason I like him so much. I love Orpingtons and I love blue so there you go. :O)
