Spring is FINALLY on its way!!!

I do believe spring is coming, YEAH! Busy days the last couple. Yesterday I held a chicken 4-H meeting here and we had a great time. Mariah and I went with the girls to get their 4-H chicks and of course we had to get a chick too. We picked up a Buff Orpington pullet. Buffs are my favorite chicken. They are quiet, friendly, good egg layers, they go broody and they are nosy. So naturally we needed another one. We now have 31 hens, 1 rooster, 7 baby chicks, 32 hatching eggs in the incubator, and 6 more chicks that are suppose to be at the feed store on the 22th of this month. I will admit it myself, I have gone nuts.

I moved the baby ducks outside today in the pen with the big ducks. I portioned off one end of the duck run so they could all meet but not actually interact yet. The babies are still little and I think they need their own space for awhile. I also moved 5 baby chicks out to the chicken house. They are also portioned off so that they don't get picked on.

The raspberries were pruned today. This winter was hard on my raspberries and I hope that they have a good summer. We threw all the shavings out of the hen house on them last time we cleaned it out so they have chicken poo fertilizer and the shavings can help hold in the moisture.

I planted onions and broccoli in the garden yesterday and my cilantro in their today. So now we have strawberries, onions, broccoli, and cilantro. I will be putting in potatoes on Good Friday and also planintg some peas. Also will be planting some radishes. I think that is all the cool weather crops I am putting in.

The fence around the garden is almost completed. It look great and I am so hoping it will keep the deer out. If not then we will be putting a string of hot wire around the top. This hopefully will keep those little burgers out.

The trees and brushes are budding out and I am ready to say good-bye to spring.
