There is a Killer Among Us

I had mentioned in one of my other posts about my missing meat chickens, those being found with their heads missing and I wasn't sure what was causing it. Well this morning I was feeding little Miss E her breakfast when I glanced out toward the chicken run and saw a chicken flying around trying to get out. I thought to myself, "Wow that chicken has massive wings" while I was spooning cereal in her open mouth. Then the lightbulb came on and I realized that was no chicken. I ran out to the chicken pen and seen this creature flying around trying to get out. I had never seen one this close and it was really cool.



Well this explains the mystery of the dead chickens because there was a chicken dead in the run next to it. After waking up Dale and Mariah to see the owl and calling my mom to bring her camera up as mine is still broken, I opened the door and let it go. Yes, you read that right - I LET IT GO! I have had person after person asking me why I didn't just SSS (shoot, shovel and shut-up) the creature. Well it was beautiful to look out, it is one of God's creatures, it is just doing what comes natural, I think it may be against the law and last but not least today we as a country are celebrating our freedom. I gave the owl his. Now I just need to make sure that the chickens are locked up safe every night!
