Happy Order Day -

Today felt like spring is coming and it made me extremely happy, now it is raining but at least it is not snowing. I placed my garden seed order and my hatchery order. My hatchery order was huge for me but it was mostly for a friend. She also went in with me on the seed order. I asked her if she wanted to and she came back with a big poultry list and a small seed list. The things I get her into, at least that is what I wonder if her husband thinks.

The poultry order consisted of my part which was:
12 Cornish X chicks
20 heritage turkey poults (6 Narragansetts, 6 Bourbon Reds, 4 Sweetgrass and 4 Black Spanish)

My friend ordered:
68 Black Sex-Link Pullets
8 heritage turkeys (4 Narragansetts and 4 Bourbon Red)

My plans are to keep five Narragansetts for breeding stock and to sell the rest of the poults. I am hoping that by selling the remaining 15 poults I can earn back enough to pay for my portion of the order.

My seed order was all encompassing this year, I still have seeds left from last year which I will use first but I want to make sure I have enough seeds for next year just in case. I ordered again from Henry David's. I really really had good luck last year from their seeds and for the first time is a long time my garden was beautiful and actually grew.

I hope to be doing veggie baskets again this year. I really enjoyed arranging them and delivering them to the consumers.

On basic maintenance around here we have been tree pruning. We have only completed two trees and have at least 8 more to go. We have decided not to prune all the trees this year.
