A Day at the Funny Farm 03/25/2009

Wednesday was wet and rainy with occasional sunshine. I itched to be outside so after I had feed the animals and did some basic housework - out I went. Mariah and I tranplanted the green bush beans. I am praying that it is not too cold at night. I keep covering the new strawberry plants with a tarp so the beans got covered too. Josh is becoming such a great help, even though this farm life is not his cup of Mountain Dew. Josh helped fix the far corner of the main fence and then helped/assisted putting in two more garden beds. We now have 6 so that will be a big plus. I am planning my garden on paper so I am looking forward to spring. It is almost April and we are still dipping down to freezing at night. UGHHHH! After a delicious lunch of hamburger steak, mashed potatoes and peas, I headed outside to tear down the old duck pen. That wasn't a horrible job and it was done in about an hour. I am trying to figure out where to put the turkey pen. I am not sure where would be best. I think down by the garden and since we are not going to keep them over the winter, I wouldn't have to worry about freezing water down there.

I was so surprised because we had an abundance of duck eggs and I didn't know what to do with them. I placed an ad on Craig's List and in less than 25 minutes I had one buyer who actually wanted more than I had. I will be delivering tomorrow. I told them $2.50 per dozen but think I will raise it next time I place an ad. I think $3 wouldn't be a bad price. Chicken eggs are selling well and I have my regular customers.

Life is good!
